Sex trade saves Greek amateur football club

Greece’s economy is in absolute shambles. At the local level, there have been cuts to services by government bodies and businesses have slashed spending to weather the storm.
Amateur football clubs in Greece are struggling to survive as traditional sponsorship avenues have dried up.

One amateur club in the town of Larissa has taken an unconventional approach and has found a sponsor in the form of a local bordello owner. The Voukefalas club now wears pink practice jerseys adorned with the brothel’s logo.

This follows an off-season where many players from the Greek Super League were shipped abroad to cut expenses.
